Excerpt from project proposal: "Most commonly associated with death and evil, black is often regarded as sinister and menacing. However, it is a color that also embodies positive connotations; black is elegant, sophisticated, and professional. When examining the psychology of each color within the spectrum, black remains to be the most controversial, as its emotional and social connotations render it both extremely positive and negative. The versatility of black causes it to be often misinterpreted, wrongly accusing black of being a one dimensional color."
Beginning as an exploration through research and surveys, this project was intended to educate viewers of the many facets of black, reiterating its subjectivity as a color. This publication aims to provide an extensive, unbiased overview of the color. Contents include aspects of contemporary art, photography, fashion, and popular culture.
